Study hall changes venue, rules

Study hall is a time allotted for after-school learning and academic preparation in the small commons. Students can also wait in study hall until the late busses arrive after school.

Mr. Thomas Clegg is one of the teachers who oversees study hall after school.

“There are a few [rules from] last year that are still in place this year,” Clegg said.

When students enter the small commons, they cannot leave except to go home. Students who are only staying for dinner must clean up when they are done eating and exit through the back door of the band hall. Car riders also exit there to meet their rides. The school’s dress code and code of conduct apply while students are on campus.

“We are in the small commons this year as opposed to the large commons,” Clegg said.

This year, there are some changes to study hall compared to last year. Teachers, coaches, and sponsors must now escort students to study hall personally, and passes are no longer accepted.

“When students are escorted, they are given a ticket for free dinner if they would like it and a ticket to get on the bus,” Clegg said.

Study hall is open Monday through Thursday from 3:15 p.m. to approximately 5:10 p.m. when the late busses leave. Last entry for students is 5 p.m. to ensure everyone has time to check in and get their tickets to board the late busses.

There are seven late busses, so students’ bus numbers are different from their usual afternoon bus and students should ask a study hall teacher for help looking up their late bus number.
