As the winter season approaches, band has started to prepare for their winter concert Nov. 29 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission will be free.

Head band director Mr. Kevin Wood, will conduct the concert winds and winds ensemble. Assistant band director Mr. Aaron Kennell will conduct the symphonic winds and percussion ensemble.

This concert is intended as a fun experience for all, but its purpose is also to allow the audience to enjoy some live music.

“This is one of the major performance grades for the semester,”  Wood said. “However, more than receiving a grade for this performance, it is about having the opportunity to share music with a live audience.”

Band students are also preparing for spring semester band placement auditions and, Mr. Wood says more than 60 students are also preparing for Region Band auditions in December.

“To prepare for this concert, students rehearse the music in their separate band classes,” Wood said. “We will have one after school rehearsal to combine the brass [and] woodwind students with the percussion students prior to the concert.”
