BREAKING: Two Basketball Players Join National Team

2021 McDonald’s All-American rosters are out — which may only be big news to the most obsessive high school basketball fans. However, Cy Creek students will be slightly more intrigued when they realize that two of our own have been selected for this very, very prestigious award. Rori Harmon and Kyndall Hunter were named on this roster that only a few select players from across the country get to enjoy being on.

“The McDonald’s All American Games are the pinnacle of high school basketball. Each year ushers in a new group of young players into a club of legendary athletes: Shaq, LeBron, Candace, A’Ja.”

Only 24 boys and 24 girls across the entire country are picked to participate, in what usually would be the All American Game. It is incredibly hard for a school to obtain one player, much less two. Harmon and Hunter, both senior guards committed to the University of Texas, have proven themselves to be incomparable leaders and are well deserving of the spots on this roster.

These two have led our girls’ basketball squad to an undefeated season, currently 28-0 and standing near the top of the national rankings. Watching them play would definitely confirm that Hunter is the main scoring option, and Harmon balances scoring with ball distribution — but neither of them are scared to go out of their comfort zone. If they were, they wouldn’t be given such an award as this.

If you haven’t seen these two play yet, your best chance is now. Having just defeated Heights 59-31, their fourth round opponent will be Summer Creek on Friday, February 26, at 5:30 p.m. in the Merrell Center!
