This first podcast episode exhibits the immense potential this type of program contain, with the capacity to enhance verbal, passion-driven journalism to a new level.
However, there are major concerns regarding audio quality: spatial dissociation and lack of adjustment. Despite the hosts and guest staying within the same room, the audio feel like they are having a video call. Each person’s voices are isolated from each other and feels disconnected; the volume are distinct from each other, creating a disharmony. Another consideration, the podcast gives asmr-like sentiments originating from the fact that each individual occurs a different place within the podcast- Sage on the left ear for example. My inputs: performing some volume adjustment for each individual to better remain within the same range and position the mic in a way that does not create the asmr effect.
There will be no discussion of their choice of guest.
While these problems are apparent, the podcast is a brilliant tool that can transform Cy Creek Press by bringing in more variety and trailblaze new forms of journalism within the school.
