Actor and director Alan Rickman passed away on Thursday, Jan. 14 at the age of 69. Rickman’s most well-known role was Severus Snape in the “Harry Potter” film series. Here are our top five favorite Snape moments (warning: may contain spoilers):

5. His appearance as a boggart and student Neville Longbottom’s worst fear in “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.”

4. His attempts at rescuing the Harry at the Quidditch game in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
